Seeking full time, Assistant Cattle Rancher to work with hands-on owner in all production aspects of real-world, progressive, purebred and commercial family cattle operation located in the scenic Wallowa Valley of NE Oregon.

As part of a small ranch crew, candidate will be relied on for the success of the ranch with varied job responsibilities. Some cattle experience required and able to help work cattle in pens/alleys on foot. Trainable or proficient in other aspects of normal ranch operations including: feeding, calving, irrigation, haying, electric fencing, rotational grazing, equipment operation/maintenance and other daily but secondary ranch duties. Not a Buckaroo position and do not need a General Manager.  Strong work ethic and get it done attitude appreciated. Candidate must be capable of working hard physically for sometimes long hours and in all weather conditions.  Excellent opportunity for someone to grow their knowledge and ability.  No Housing currently available on the ranch but only 3 miles to quality small town in primarily Ag and tourism area. Additional Information: Owner/Mgr has extensive prior experience in many aspects of the cattle industry from purebred, commercial, stockers, feedlot, and branded beef programs with numerous contacts from a previous career in Agribusiness sales, marketing, and management within the Animal Health and AI fields. Well rounded having worked with cattlemen in 9 Western States.

Third generation, Purebred and Commercial family cattle operation. Not a fancy show place with artificial management practices. Cattle are our only business so while progressive, the ranch must still be run in the real world. Extensive, AI and ET programs with a primary goal of developing bulls for commercial cattle operations. Approximately 300 Registered Angus mother cows. Set up for Synch AI starts in late May and early June. Primary cattle handling facility is centered around Powder River sort pens and alleys with a System 2000 tub and lead alley to a Silencer Hydraulic chute. 500 acres irrigated with Pivot, wheel lines, & flood. Extensive new system added in 2017. Intensive cell grazing with poly wire fencing. 850 Tons of hay put up last year in large round bales.
